Technology
Bluefuse Systems uses a wide range of technologies including Microsoft .Net, Adobe Coldfusion and many others. We've developed considerable expertise in the use of this software - the summary below gives a high level overview of those that we use on the majority of our projects.
Microsoft .NET
.NET: The .NET Framework is a single platform that anybody can develop for, using a system similar to Java/JVM. However, unlike Java, there's no language barrier with .NET as there are a number of them available to the developer such as C++, C# and Visual Basic.
Adobe Coldfusion
Coldfusion: We're currently developing solutions using Coldfusion 7 and 8 but have been implementing solutions using this technolgy since verson 4.5. Coldfusion solves
many of the challenges of Internet application development, allowing us to be extremely productive in creating engaging online applications.
Fusebox
Fusebox:
Fusebox is a development methodology used with Coldfusion and other technologies. We use the latest version (5.5, released in December of last year) but have been using this methodology since version 2. Here are
7 reasons why managers like Fusebox.
Coldbox
Coldbox: This is a more recent development methodology that we've started to use on some major projects including an
eVoucher administration system for Vodafone. Like Fusebox, it allows us to keep maintenance time and number of bugs to an absolute minimum.
Trac
Trac: Trac is an open-source issue tracking system that we use to manage the ongoing development needs of our clients once that a site
or application has been launched. It provides a one-stop shop for centrally managing communication between members of the Bluefuse team and staff that work for our clients.
Subversion
Subversion: is our choice of version control system - this enables us to have multiple streams of simultaneous development. Development
milestones are tagged (given a version number) which then provides a point at which the code-base can be rolled back to.
jQuery
jQuery: In their own words - jQuery is a fast, concise, JavaScript Library that simplifies how you traverse HTML documents, handle events, perform animations,
and add Ajax interactions to your web pages. jQuery is designed to change the way that you write JavaScript.
Latest Updates
We're now developing Rich Internet Applications using Flex 3.0. Rich Internet applications (RIA) are web applications that have the features and functionality of traditional desktop applications. We've been developing RIA's for a number of years using Ajax/jQuery, but Flex 3.0 now gives us even greater capability to develop rich, engaging websites and applications.
